The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has intensified efforts to protect public health by deploying officers nationwide to prevent the importation of recalled noodle products into Nigeria.
Titansloaded reports that the agency confirmed the development in an official statement, noting that the action is aimed at safeguarding consumers and ensuring that unsafe food items do not enter the Nigerian market.
According to NAFDAC, the recalled noodles were flagged following regulatory findings that raised concerns about their safety for consumption. The agency stressed that allowing such products into the country could pose serious health risks to Nigerians.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, stated that officers have been stationed at key entry points, including seaports, airports, and land borders, to intercept any shipment linked to the affected noodle brands.
She explained that all food consignments at the ports will undergo strict verification and inspection processes to ensure compliance with Nigeria’s food safety standards before clearance is granted.
Prof. Adeyeye reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to its mandate of protecting the public from substandard, unsafe, and unwholesome food products, adding that NAFDAC would not hesitate to take decisive action against violators.
The agency warned that importers or distributors found attempting to bring in the recalled noodles would face severe regulatory sanctions, including seizure of products, fines, and possible prosecution under existing laws.
NAFDAC also urged traders and distributors to exercise caution and ensure that all imported food items meet approved regulatory requirements before shipment into the country.
Members of the public were encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unregistered noodle products spotted in markets or stores to NAFDAC through its official reporting channels.
The agency assured Nigerians that it will continue to strengthen surveillance and enforcement measures to maintain food safety and protect consumer health nationwide.
