The Maureen Idehen-Ovabor Foundation has unveiled a humanitarian vision focused on improving lives through education, empowerment and targeted support for vulnerable members of society.
Titansloaded reports that the foundation was established by Mrs Maureen Idehen-Ovabor, a US-based scholar, educator, entrepreneur and registered pharmacist in Nigeria and the United States, as part of her commitment to giving back and creating opportunities for people who may not have access to necessities.
Mrs Maureen Idehen-Ovabor, who is the daughter of the late Madam Bosede Idehen, is the Director and Proprietress of Springfield Private School (SPS) and Bosede Idehen International Academy (BIIA), Lagos.
Under her leadership, Bosede Idehen International Academy has embraced a dual-curriculum model that combines the Nigerian and American curricula, reflecting her belief that African children should receive quality education capable of preparing them for an increasingly globalised world.
Her experience across education, healthcare, entrepreneurship and real estate has further shaped her approach to social impact. According to her, success should not be measured only by personal achievements but also by the number of lives one is able to positively influence.
The philosophy behind the foundation is captured in one of her frequently expressed beliefs: “If you can think it, you can make it.”
Speaking on the motivation for establishing the foundation, Mrs Maureen said she was inspired by the numerous requests for assistance she had received from individuals and families over the years.
She explained that some things many people consider basic are still difficult for others to access, particularly quality education, healthcare and other essential services.
For her, this reality requires collective responsibility and practical intervention.
Mrs. Maureen said the foundation would not focus solely on providing temporary assistance but would seek to create lasting impact by helping people acquire the knowledge, skills and opportunities required to become self-reliant.
Education remains one of the major pillars of the initiative. She believes that while children and young people should have access to quality formal education, those who may not have the opportunity to pursue conventional academic paths should also be equipped with vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
The foundation’s “Educate, Empower and Elevate” philosophy is therefore designed to support individuals while giving them tools that can help them become productive and relevant members of society.
The initiative will also focus on vulnerable groups, including widows, widowers, orphans and elderly people, as part of its broader humanitarian objectives.
Mrs Maureen also expressed concern about challenges within the education, healthcare and justice systems, noting that more needs to be done to ensure that access to essential services is not determined solely by a person’s financial circumstances or background.
She stressed that she is prepared to contribute her quota toward changing the narrative, even if the contribution begins on a modest scale.
According to her, people should not wait until they have accumulated billions before deciding to help others.
She believes everyone has something to contribute and that individuals blessed with opportunities should use their success to lift others.
Her philosophy of life is anchored on doing things right, regardless of people’s backgrounds, beliefs or social status.
Rather than viewing success as a reason to show superiority over others, Mrs. Maureen sees it as an opportunity to serve.
Her belief that “God is blessing me to bless others” remains central to her humanitarian outlook.
