The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) petrol price reduction has taken effect, with the state-owned firm lowering the pump price by ₦80 per litre. This marks the third fuel price adjustment in December 2025.
Titansloaded reports that NNPCL outlets in Abuja now sell petrol at ₦835 per litre, down from the previous ₦915 per litre, following continued shifts in the downstream petroleum sector.
The latest adjustment follows similar reductions by private marketers, including MRS, BOVAS, and AA Rano, who recently reviewed their pump prices to between ₦739 and ₦865 per litre across the Federal Capital Territory.

Industry analysts attribute the price cut to recent ex-depot price reductions by Dangote Refinery and other depot owners, who lowered rates to between ₦699 and ₦800 per litre, influencing retail pricing nationwide.
NNPCL had previously reduced petrol prices earlier in the month, with adjustments recorded on December 4 and December 10, signalling a gradual easing in fuel costs for consumers.
The repeated price cuts are expected to provide relief amid rising living costs and economic pressures, while further changes will depend on crude oil prices, foreign exchange stability, and supply dynamics within the deregulated downstream sector.
NNPCL has yet to release an official statement on the latest reduction, but observations at retail outlets confirm the new pricing.
Consumers are advised to monitor pump prices across different stations, as prices may vary depending on location and distribution costs.
