Former Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson has accused his successor, Douye Diri, of shifting the state’s political allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that the move could cost him politically in 2027.
Titiansloaded reports that Dickson, who leads the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), made the allegation during a visit to his hometown, Toru-Orua, with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and other political figures.
He accused Diri of placing his personal ambition ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform that helped him become governor.

“You have surrendered Bayelsa to APC. You have sold Bayelsa to APC and you will pay for it in 2027,” Dickson said.
He argued that the state’s political identity remained tied to the PDP and warned Diri against aligning it with the ruling party for the sake of securing another term.
Dickson said he would join forces with other PDP founding members and supporters of former President Goodluck Jonathan to challenge Diri and the APC in the 2027 elections.
He described the governor’s alleged actions as a betrayal of the party and its members, saying the PDP had supported Diri’s emergence and re-election.

According to Dickson, efforts to shift Bayelsa’s political support to the APC would be resisted, and his camp was determined to win the state back.
The NDC National Campaign Council Director-General, Ibrahim Abdulkarim, also took part in the visit.
The exchange has further exposed divisions within the Bayelsa PDP, where rival groups associated with Dickson and Diri are competing for political influence ahead of the 2027 polls.
