In a devastating attack on a residential building in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, at least 65 Palestinians were reported killed and dozens more wounded on Monday. The assault has drawn widespread condemnation as it targeted a structure housing approximately 150 residents, according to Palestinian medical officials and local eyewitnesses.
Marwan al-Hams, the director of field hospitals for Gaza’s health authorities, expressed outrage at the brutality of the incident, stating, “So far, at least 65 Palestinians were killed, and dozens wounded by the Israelis.” Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Israeli army targeted a five-storey residential building, completely demolishing it.
Due to the severe shortage of medical and civil defence personnel in northern Gaza, local residents were compelled to dig through the rubble to rescue casualties, further highlighting the humanitarian crisis in the region. An eyewitness recounted, “The Israeli army ordered us to evacuate northern Gaza to commit more and more massacres against the families trapped in their houses without having any services.”
Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, confirmed the tragic incident to the media. As of now, the Israeli military has not issued a comment regarding this attack.

This incident is part of a broader Israeli offensive against Hamas, which was initiated following an attack on the southern Israeli border on October 7, 2023. That assault resulted in approximately 1,200 fatalities and about 250 individuals taken hostage.
The ongoing Israeli attacks have contributed to a staggering Palestinian death toll, which now stands at 43,020, according to health authorities in Gaza.
