The Peace Corps Safe School Advocacy has been strengthened as the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Lagos State Command, intensifies efforts to improve security coverage across educational institutions in the country.

According to Titansloaded reports, the initiative is part of the organisation’s broader strategy to support national security efforts by focusing on preventive measures, grassroots intelligence, and community-based protection systems for schools.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lagos, the State Commandant of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, Patriot Akeem Abayomi Badmus ( Fisn, CIEHS,CIHRM), said the Lagos State Command remains fully committed to strengthening the Safe School Advocacy as part of its operational mandate.
He explained that the Peace Corps Safe School Advocacy is designed to enhance safety across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions through structured monitoring systems and improved collaboration with relevant security agencies.
Patriot Akeem Abayomi Badmus ( Fisn, CIEHS,CIHRM) noted that under the leadership of Prof. Dickson A. O. Akoh, the Peace Corps of Nigeria has continued to expand its grassroots security framework, which plays a critical role in supporting early warning systems and rapid response coordination.
He added that the Lagos State Command has remained at the forefront of implementing the Safe School Advocacy, particularly through community engagement, school-based awareness campaigns, and intelligence-sharing networks.
According to him, schools remain vulnerable targets, making it necessary for all stakeholders to work together in strengthening protective measures around learning environments.
“The Lagos State Commandant has continued to drive the Safe School Advocacy with strong focus on prevention, community partnership, and timely information sharing,” Badmus said.
He stressed that the Peace Corps of Nigeria complements the efforts of the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, intelligence agencies, and other paramilitary organisations in ensuring safer communities and schools.
The Commandant further explained that the Peace Corps Safe School Advocacy aligns with national security priorities aimed at reducing threats to educational institutions and ensuring uninterrupted learning across the country.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewed efforts to strengthen internal security and improve coordination among security agencies.
Patriot Akeem Abayomi Badmus ( Fisn, CIEHS,CIHRM) reiterated that sustainable school safety can only be achieved through collaboration, vigilance, and continuous engagement between security institutions and local communities.
The Lagos State Command reaffirmed its commitment to expanding the Safe School Advocacy and deepening its grassroots security support structure across Nigeria’s education sector and seek full support of both federal government and Lagos State Government.
