The upcoming December cinema releases of Nollywood stars Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham have stirred fresh comparisons among their supporters, with fans debating their promotional tactics and box-office prospects.
Titiansloaded reports that both actresses have built strong reputations in the Nigerian film industry and have often been drawn into online discussions about their movie performances, publicity approaches and allegations that one imitates the other.
The latest round of debate has gained momentum as Akindele prepares to release The Four: No One Fights Alone, while Abraham is set to premiere Bestie. Their campaigns have prompted supporters to closely examine similarities in their promotional activities.

One recent talking point was the use of customised Adire fabrics featuring the films’ titles.
Akindele and members of her team, including Wumi Toriola, Kemity and Lateef Adedimeji, wore matching blue Adire outfits branded with The Four at the 40th birthday celebration of Nike Akinyemi, chief executive of KolonyEvents.
Some of Abraham’s supporters pointed to her promotional outfits for the 2023 film Malaika, arguing that she had used customised fabrics before.
Abraham later posted photographs of herself wearing pink-and-orange Adire fabric carrying the title Bestie. The development triggered claims of imitation, although her designer rejected the accusation, saying the design had been planned earlier.
The exchange generated mixed reactions online. One social media user, Mide Love, questioned the timing of Abraham’s promotional moves, citing the Adire outfits and a proposed TikTok collaboration.

Another user, Tbaz, argued that the comparisons were being fuelled by fans, insisting Abraham had a history of using Adire for film promotions.
Some supporters of Abraham also questioned the presentation of her latest film title, describing the announcement as resembling Akindele’s promotional style.
The debate has once again placed the actresses’ relationship under public scrutiny, as their fan groups, popularly known as Titans and Jenifans, continue to interpret their promotional activities through the lens of the perceived rivalry.
