Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has taken to the runway at Lagos Fashion Week, appearing alongside professional models to present a collection by Nigerian designer Ugo Monye.
Titiansloaded reports that the governor made the appearance on Saturday at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, where his entrance drew cheers from the audience.
In a post on X, Sanwo-Olu said he temporarily left his regular government responsibilities to support the state’s fashion and creative sector.

“I stepped away from the usual business of governance to walk the runway for the incredibly talented Ugo Monye at Lagos Fashion Week,” he wrote.
He also expressed pride in Lagos’ growing influence in fashion, culture and creativity, noting that local designers were helping to promote the state on the international stage.
The appearance marks Sanwo-Olu’s second documented walk at the fashion event. He first took to the runway in October 2023, when he closed a show by designer Emmy Kasbit.

Established in 2011 by Omoyemi Akerele, Lagos Fashion Week offers African designers a platform to present their work and connect with buyers, retailers, investors and other industry stakeholders.
The 2026 edition, held from October 28 to November 1, was themed “CRAFTED: Heritage. Innovation. Circular Futures.” The programme featured runway shows and activities centred on fashion business, emerging talent and sustainable production.
