Anthony Joshua is in advanced talks to earn a staggering £70m in a potential fight against internet star-turned-boxer Jake Paul, with the bout expected to take place in Miami next month.
TitansLoaded reports that the total prize purse is estimated at £140m, with Joshua and Paul set to receive equal shares if the deal is finalised. Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed negotiations are ongoing, emphasising that no agreement has been signed yet. The fight would mark Joshua’s first professional return since his heavy defeat to Daniel Dubois over a year ago and will be contested under Queensbury rules, not as an exhibition.
Netflix is reportedly driving the negotiations, aiming to air the fight. The platform previously streamed Paul’s 2024 clash with Mike Tyson, which attracted over 60 million viewers, and is currently producing a documentary on Joshua. Paul’s collapsed fight with Gervonta Davis has reignited talks of a potential matchup with Joshua.
Hearn described the opportunity as a massive financial boost, saying, “It is not done yet. There has been a lot of gun jumping on this. We were discussing a low-key fight for AJ, but an opportunity has come up to make 50 times more money.” He added that while the fight may not enhance Joshua’s legacy, it is a chance for him to earn big and shake off ring rust.
Anthony Joshua has been preparing for a return after a lengthy layoff, resuming light training earlier in the year, undergoing minor elbow surgery in May, and intensifying his conditioning in October. While critics question the spectacle, promoters argue the fight will draw massive attention, especially in the US, where Paul has a strong following.
