The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has said that it welcomes the U.S. government’s decision to help Nigeria fight and end killings and insecurity in the country. CAN recently revealed that it is sad to see Nigeria regularly grab the global spotlight for the wrong reasons.
Speaking at the opening of the association’s Fourth Quarterly National Executive Council meeting in Jos on Tuesday, the CAN President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, shared that in spite of all the challenges, the Christian community remains hopeful and united.
According to him, if international attention will help spur decisive governmental action that will protect lives and bring lasting peace, the Christian community in Nigeria is in full support.
Urging Christian leaders to remain prayerful and courageous, CAN stated that they must keep sowing seeds of hope amid the sorrow.
“CAN has spoken clearly and courageously on this matter, and we stand unwavering by our position that there is Christian genocide in Nigeria.
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free,” he said.

Archbishop Okoh further noted that CAN will continue to campaign for justice and security for all of its members.
He concluded by calling for the resettlement of all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to their ancestral lands, stressing that their prolonged displacement is not right.
“Let me assure you that CAN will not relent. We will continue to demand justice. We will continue to call for accountability.
Our God has not abandoned us. This darkness shall not overcome the light of Christ,” he added.
