Harvard University has blasted the Trump administration’s decision to revoke its ability to enrol international students. The prestigious university recently described the decision as unlawful and retaliatory.
Speaking via a press statement, Harvard spokesperson Jason Newton revealed that the ban on enrolling international students will inflict major damage not just on its academic mission, but also on the broader national interest.
He said that the university is currently working towards supporting students who have been affected by a federal action that is nothing but a retaliatory action.
According to him, over 6,000 international students were enrolled at Harvard in the 2024–2025 academic year, and these students typically contribute more financially than domestic students, paying close to the full cost of tuition.

The elite institution maintained that preventing international students from enrolling will definitely impact Harvard University’s income negatively in the near future, and the move deserves a lot of criticism for undermining the academic mission of the prestigious university.
“We are fully committed to maintaining Harvard’s ability to host international students and scholars. This retaliatory action threatens serious harm to the Harvard community and our country, and undermines Harvard’s academic and research mission,” he said.
