President Bola Tinubu has appointed seven new ministers to his cabinet following a major reshuffle that saw the dissolution of two ministries. The announcement was made in a statement issued by the presidency on Wednesday, shortly after the federal executive council meeting.
The presidency outlined that the new appointments and other significant actions are part of efforts to improve the administration’s efficiency, as President Tinubu strives to fulfill his promises to Nigerians. Among the eight key actions approved by the president are the reassignment of ten ministers to new portfolios, the nomination of seven new ministers, and the appointment of Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission. Additionally, Sunday Akin Dare has been named Special Adviser to the President on Public Communication and Orientation, working under the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
The list of newly appointed ministers and their portfolios is as follows:
1. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction
2. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour and Employment
3. Bianca Odinakachukwu Olivia Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs
4. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment
5. Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development
6. Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of Housing and Urban Development
7. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education
The appointments mark another phase of Tinubu’s efforts to strengthen his administration and optimize government performance. The newly appointed ministers are expected to undergo Senate confirmation in the coming days.
