Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Sule Lamido’s responsibility to Nigeria is not done yet. He recently revealed that elder statesmen who were once in crucial positions as Nigerian leaders cannot abandon the nation at this time.
Speaking during the public presentation of Lamido’s autobiography titled “Being True to Myself,” Obasanjo said that the Nigeria we all want is yet to manifest, therefore Sule and other elder statesmen must be aware that the job is not finished.
According to him, Lamido cannot retire from politics anytime soon because until Nigeria reaches its full potential, he still has a very prominent role to play to make the country great again.
“You (Lamido) are now a statesman. But Nigeria that we are working for, we haven’t got there. Our job is not finished until we are finished,” he said.

Hailing Lamido’s service during his tenure as Foreign Affairs Minister, OBJ described him as an efficient diplomat who helped restore the country’s international standing after several years of isolation.
Also speaking, President Tinubu, represented by the Minister of Information and Orientation, disclosed that Sule’s autobiography is definitely a key contribution to Nigeria’s political literature, stressing that he is a principled opposition figure who deserves to be celebrated.
He also reiterated his government’s openness to criticism, acknowledging that while his administration is currently battling difficulties with its economic reforms, positive macroeconomic results are inevitable.
The President concluded by saying his administration will remain committed to national security, tax reform, and inclusive development.
“Are we where we want to be? No. But President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has shown uncommon audacity and vision to set Nigeria on the path of growth and development. We are now entering a phase of intended beneficial outcomes,” he added.
