The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Umar Maikudi, a popular figure in the Nollywood film industry. The group recently described the deceased as one of its most dedicated and hardworking film stakeholders who remained committed to the industry until his final moments.
Speaking via a press statement, the managing director and chief executive of the NFC, Ali Nuhu, described Umar’s demise as a painful loss for the whole of Nollywood.
He revealed that Umar was a respected figure who offered exemplary leadership during his time as National President of the Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN).
Ali noted that Maikudi’s death definitely creates a void not only within his family but also in MOPPAN and the Nigerian movie industry at large.
Describing him as a patriotic leader who worked tirelessly to promote his vision for the corporation, Ali extended his condolences to Umar’s immediate family, friends, and associates.
He then prayed for Almighty God to grant the late film icon eternal rest.
“Alhaji Umar Maikudi was a refined, patriotic leader who worked tirelessly to reposition MOPPAN and promote its vision. He was committed to harnessing opportunities for Nigerian filmmakers both locally and in the diaspora,” he said.
