The 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has said that he joined the coalition of opposition parties to replace bad governance with a better one. He recently revealed that his involvement is not about positions, but about delivering good leadership to Nigerians.
Speaking recently at an event where he donated N10 million each to a school and hospital building project undertaken by the Anglican Church in Kubwa, Abuja, Obi revealed that he joined the coalition to fight against hunger, poverty and insecurity across Nigeria.
According to him, politics has never been about positions for him, and he has always been focused on ensuring he does the right thing as a politician.
Amid reports that he has agreed to run as Atiku’s Vice President in 2027, he insisted that he is less concerned about the rumours and more concerned about speaking for underprivileged kids across the nation who have no access to quality education.

“I’m in coalition against hunger, a coalition against poverty, a coalition against ill health, politics for me is not about positions, it is about doing the right thing.
Whatever you make of it (the report), I can tell you that, I Peter, have told you where I stand. I just came back (from Rome), I didn’t talk about politics, I’m talking about the education of these children. I’m not talking about positions.
In this country, we are not talking about what we should be talking about. What we should be talking about is how we are going to educate our children,” he said.
As he made his N20 million donation to the Anglican Church, Peter maintained that investments in education and healthcare services are very key to national development.
He then criticized the high rate of corruption in Nigeria, blaming it for robbing Nigeria of the needed funds to invest in vital areas of national life.
