A chieftain of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arabambi, has called on the party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to step aside from the 2027 presidential race, alleging that he possesses documents purportedly linking the former Anambra State governor to financial irregularities.
Titansloaded reports that Arabambi made the allegations during an interview with Symfoni TV, where he claimed he would soon make public what he described as certified documents for Nigerians to examine ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the Labour Party stalwart, the documents allegedly contain details of financial transactions and campaign-related accounts which, he argued, deserve public scrutiny before Obi proceeds with any presidential ambition under the proposed opposition coalition.
Arabambi further disclosed that he had petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what he described as questionable campaign accounts allegedly linked to Obi’s political activities.
He alleged that some of the accounts were opened with commercial banks without the knowledge or approval of certain Labour Party officials. According to him, party leaders only became aware of the accounts after requests were allegedly made for authorization relating to transactions.
The Labour Party chieftain maintained that the anti-graft agency should thoroughly investigate the accounts and other related documents, insisting that he had submitted materials which he believes would aid the investigation.
Arabambi also questioned the alleged involvement of some individuals connected to the accounts, claiming that key Labour Party officials, including the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure, and the National Secretary, were unaware of the banking arrangements at the time they were made.
Speaking during the interview, he alleged that the evidence in his possession would reveal more information than what has previously been reported.
“I have more than 95% of corruption made by Peter Obi, and he must step aside from this presidential election because he only asked for 1%. But what I’m going to show Nigerians via your television station will be so alarming. They are facts, they are CTCs, I am not a baby.
“I have petitioned the EFCC because Obi will never escape; I petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and these are the four accounts that must be investigated,” Arabambi said.
As of the time of filing this report, Peter Obi has not publicly responded to the allegations made by Arabambi, and the EFCC has not issued any official statement confirming receipt of or action on the petition.
The allegations remain claims by Arabambi and have not been proven in court. No findings of wrongdoing have been announced by any law enforcement agency regarding the matters raised.
