In a swift security operation, soldiers have arrested a woman and a pickup van driver allegedly attempting to deliver supplies to bandits in Kurutu Forest, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to a local community leader who confirmed the incident to *Titansloaded*, the suspects were intercepted at Bishini Junction around 4:23 am on Monday. Acting on intelligence, the soldiers discovered a variety of items concealed in the vehicle.
The woman, reportedly a charcoal dealer, was found transporting cartons of cough syrup, packets of cigarettes, Indian hemp, a bag of rice, 22 bags of sachet water, a jerry can of palm oil, and a carton of seasoning cubes. These items were hidden in five sacks and covered with a tarpaulin.
Further investigations revealed that the woman was acting on instructions from bandits. A security source, who requested anonymity, confirmed her confession. “She admitted to being sent on an errand by the bandits to purchase and deliver the supplies to their hideout,” the source disclosed.
Initially, the woman claimed the items were for timber operators working under her in the forest. However, a thorough search at the army checkpoint uncovered the illicit items, prompting her admission of their true destination.
The suspects are currently in custody, while authorities continue their investigation. Efforts to obtain an official statement from the Kaduna State Police Command were ongoing as the spokesperson, ASP Hassan Mansur, was yet to confirm the arrests at the time of this report.
This arrest underscores the proactive measures being taken by security forces to disrupt supply chains and weaken criminal elements in the region.
