Popular Afrobeats singer Ruger has said that the very first money he made from music was given to his church. He recently shared that he donated the complete ₦500,000 payment to his pastor as soon as he received it.
Speaking during an interview with VJ Adams, Ruger reflected on his financial journey, detailing how fame has reshaped his perspective on money and life.
The artist revealed that he has always been happy with his earnings because his money keeps getting bigger the more he performs.
According to him, after giving out his first ₦500,000 performance fee to his church, his next payment was a million, and it has been consistent financial blessings ever since.
“At every point in my career, I felt happy with what I had because it got bigger each time. My first payment was like 500k when I first came out, and I can remember how I gave everything to the church. I didn’t use it, and the next payment was like a million, and I was so happy. Buying parfaits and stuff, and more millions came in the space of a year,” he said.

Acknowledging that money changes people, Ruger revealed that being rich definitely alters your approach to a lot of things.
The musician noted that his plan is to reach the point of being super rich and free of stress, stressing that he wants to be like Jay Z who constantly gets called out but rarely responds.
Ruger concluded by saying that he needs that kind of stress-free money that will make him talk less.
“Money changes everybody; don’t mind what others say. A lot of things change when you start making money; the way you address things and the way you approach things Is different.
Some people are so rich that they don’t stress at all, that’s the point where I want to get. You see Jay Z? No matter how many times he’s called out, he never speaks. Thats the kind of money I want,” he added.
