The Taraba State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party has shut down speculations that Governor Agbu Kefas is planning to defect from the party. It recently confirmed that the state remains a stronghold of the PDP in Northern Nigeria.
Speaking via a press statement by the Taraba State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, the party reaffirmed the party’s dominance in the state and refuted any rumour of internal unrest.
Bawa reiterated that Taraba State remains loyal to the PDP because the performance of its leaders since the return of democracy in 1999 is forever memorable.
He maintained that while other Northern states continue to explore opposition parties, Taraba State will never end its loyalty to the PDP, no matter what.
“Taraba State is the stronghold of PDP in Northern Nigeria. While other states in Northern Nigeria have explored opposition parties, Taraba has remained a steadfast PDP bastion.
The party’s commitment to its ideals and principles has resonated with the people of Taraba, who have consistently returned PDP leaders to power,” he said.
Hailing Governor Agbu Kefas for his policies and style of governance, Bawa disclosed that his leadership is a major milestone in PDP’s history, referencing how the Governor rose from an ex-state PDP chairman to his current position.
He also applauded Governor Agbu’s decision to pay the 10-month salary owed to staff at the PDP state secretariat, celebrating him for his commitment to party loyalists and the welfare of those who have worked rigorously to promote the party’s interests.
He concluded by commending the governor’s incredible education reforms, which have gone a long way towards sustaining support for the party across the state.
“His strong commitment to party ideals and the welfare of Tarabans is evident in people-centred initiatives such as the prompt implementation of the N30,000 minimum wage and its recent upgrade to N70,000.
This demonstrates his commitment to party loyalists and the welfare of those who have worked tirelessly to promote the party’s interests.
Taraba State’s loyalty to the PDP is a clear indication of the party’s effective governance. As the only state in Northern Nigeria that has never tested opposition, Taraba remains a PDP stronghold,” he added.
