The bodies of Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva, have arrived at a church in Portugal ahead of their funeral. Mourners arrived early on Friday morning to pay their respects at a wake in Gondomar after Jota and his sibling died in a shocking crash on Thursday, July 3.
According to the local parish priest, Jose Manuel Macedo, the wake will happen around 8 am at the nearby Capela de Ressurreicao before their funeral at the Igreja Matriz, the Catholic church next door, on Saturday morning at 10 am.
“We’re available to celebrate [their life] with everyone and to share the pain and the Christian hope,” Macedo said to CNN.

The tyre of the Liverpool forward’s Lamborghini Huracan was said to have blown out while overtaking another vehicle on the A-52 at Cernadilla near Zamora, just 10 miles over the border from Portugal.
This forced the automobile to come off the road, roll, and eventually burst into flames. The deadly accident, which took place at around 12.35 am, also ignited the surrounding vegetation.
Emergency services were called in immediately, but the brothers lost their lives amid the intense flames. Spanish government official Angel Blanco has since confirmed that the siblings died at the scene.
Reports also said that Jota and his brother were reportedly on a road trip to Santander to catch a ferry to Britain after he was advised not to fly following lung surgery.
The wake will take place in Jota’s home city of Porto, where just two weeks ago, the late Portuguese international married his childhood sweetheart Rute Cardoso in a service attended by family and friends.
