Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has declared that the president is prepared for an electoral contest against former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Titiansloaded reports that Ajayi made the statement while reacting to a ruling by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which removed the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and dismissed Atiku’s presidential candidacy, according to the report.
In a post on his X account, the presidential aide rejected allegations that Tinubu or the All Progressives Congress (APC) had influenced the court’s decision. He attributed the ADC’s difficulties to political decisions made by its leaders and their allies.

Ajayi said members of the opposition party had accused the president and the APC of being behind the judgment, but maintained that the dispute stemmed from the leadership crisis within the David Mark-led National Working Committee.
He also urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to intervene over concerns surrounding judicial discipline and the integrity of judges.
According to Ajayi, the president and the APC are prepared for the anticipated political contest, while Atiku and his associates must first resolve the legal and internal party challenges confronting them.
“Neither President Tinubu nor the APC caused this issue. The current problems are mainly due to the mistakes and poor decisions made by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and his political allies,” he wrote.

He added that Tinubu was preparing for what he described as a major election rematch with Atiku, which he said was scheduled for January 16, 2027.
“The APC is prepared for that contest. However, Atiku and his team need to first address the political and legal challenges that have come from their own choices,” Ajayi stated.
