The National Executive Committee of the Social Democratic Party, led by Chief Wole Adesina, has spoken up against disturbing developments threatening the integrity and unity of the party. He recently blasted the influx of aggrieved politicians forming a coalition aimed at dethroning President Bola Tinubu without presenting any real alternative vision for the country’s transformation.
Speaking via a press statement, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Alfa Mohammed, said that such a desperate coalition will not have any meaningful impact without a clear-cut agenda that Nigerians can fully believe in.
He insisted that the SDP is not for sale or lease to any group, and it’ll never be part of any anti-government activity that lacks an obvious path to Nigeria’s progress as a nation.
“The influx of some aggrieved politicians in a desperate coalition to ‘send President Bola Ahmed Tinubu back to Lagos’ without showcasing any clear-cut alternative agenda for Nigeria’s transformation.
The party is not for sale or lease to any group, and will not be part of any anti-government plots or coalition that lacks a clear alternative agenda for Nigeria’s transformation,” it read.

The faction promised to continue engaging with the Federal Government constructively, while also holding it accountable for all its actions affecting Nigerians.
According to Mohammed, SDP will keep distancing itself from any coalition trying to derail the present government because it undermines the mandate of the Nigerian voters who exercised their franchise in 2023.
He then called on party leaders across Nigeria to resist any attempt to usurp their positions, stressing that work is ongoing to reclaim full recognition from INEC as a political party.
“We call on SDP leaders at all levels to resist any attempt to usurp their leadership and report such actions to the appropriate authorities, while leaving the party’s doors open for genuinely intentioned new members,” it added.
