The Benue State Police Command has uncovered two illegal gun manufacturing factories in Guma and Kwande Local Government Areas, leading to the arrest of several suspects.
On January 11, 2025, police operatives raided a facility in Mbaafa, Adikpo, Kwande LGA, where they arrested two suspects, Friday Aduduakamve and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK-35.” During the operation, authorities seized nine fabricated pistols, an incomplete AK-47 rifle, two gas cylinders, a filing machine, and other equipment used for weapon production.
In a separate operation on January 10, 2025, another gun manufacturing factory was uncovered in Daudu, Guma LGA. Police arrested 50-year-old Meme Ihoon, confiscating six dane guns and three long pipes intended for firearms production. Ihoon admitted to manufacturing and selling weapons to criminals in the region.
Benue State Commissioner of Police, Steve Yabanet, affirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring security and peace in the state. He also urged community leaders to cooperate with law enforcement to curb criminal activities.
These recent operations highlight the ongoing efforts by the police to dismantle illegal arms manufacturing networks and enhance public safety in Benue State.
