The President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has said that the Dangote refinery is not in any form of competition with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. He recently vowed to collaborate with the new NNPC management to guarantee energy security for Nigerians.
Speaking during his visit to the new Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPC, Bayo Ojulari, in Abuja, Dangote said that he sees NNPC as part and parcel of his business, and he believes cooperation between the two organisations is necessary moving forward.
“There is no competition between us; we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd. NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of cooperation between the two organisations,” he said.
As he congratulated the GCEO and the Senior Management Team on their appointments, Dangote emphasised the huge responsibility that has been placed on Bayo Ojulari’s shoulders. He, however, added that the massive task at hand is definitely surmountable because of the capable hands at his disposal in NNPC.

Responding, Ojulari assured the business mogul of a mutually beneficial collaboration that will be based on healthy competition and productive collaboration.
According to him, he met an amazing calibre of talent at the company, and with the dedicated, skilled and hardworking workforce he has been blessed with, Nigerians can expect his reign to be a successful one.
He then reiterated NNPC’s readiness to build a legacy of national excellence via innovation and shared purpose, adding that its partnership with the Dangote Group will surely yield good fruits.
“Both executives also committed to being the relationship managers for their respective organisations through sustained productive collaboration and healthy competition, thereby envisioning limitless opportunities for both organisations,” he added.
