The North-Central All Progressives Congress Forum has welcomed the emergence of Professor Nentawe Yilwatda as the National Chairman of the party. The forum recently thanked President Bola Tinubu for “ensuring that justice finally prevailed in resolving the leadership issue in the APC.”
Speaking via a press statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, shortly after the National Executive Committee ratified Yilwatda’s appointment on Thursday, the group described the development as a major victory for its more than two-year-long campaign to have the position returned to the North-Central region.
According to him, Yilwatda’s emergence is a significant victory for APC stakeholders of the North-Central because their agitation for fairness and equity has finally been addressed.
He stated that the forum fought very hard to make sure the party does the right thing, and the struggle has finally paid off.
“This is a major milestone for stakeholders of the North-Central under the umbrella of the North-Central APC Forum.
For more than two years, we agitated for the return of the position of National Chairman to the North-Central in line with the current zoning arrangement. Our agitation was informed by the need for fairness and equity.
During this struggle, we went to court, led protests, issued open letters and several press statements. We fought with doggedness while continuing to respect the leaders of the party, even when certain decisions did not favour us.
We are indeed glad that at last, justice has been done, our voices have been heard, and the North-Central has been given what rightfully belongs to it,” he said.

The North-Central APC Forum further vowed to support Yilwatda in his new role, urging all party stakeholders to rally behind him in order to advance the party’s goals.
The Forum concluded by commending President Tinubu for being a listener and a responsive leader.
“The North-Central APC Forum sincerely thanks President Bola Tinubu for listening to our call for the return of the National Chairmanship to the North-Central region. This has once again proven beyond any doubt that President Tinubu is a listening President.
He has shown uncommon political will and sound judgment, which are evident in the reforms and initiatives he has championed to place Nigeria on a progressive path.
We also thank other leaders and stakeholders of the party, particularly members of the NEC, for this decision. The North-Central is truly grateful, and we are confident that this development will galvanise the region to contribute even more to the party’s progress,” he added.
