The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adeboye, has said that Nigeria would be in a far more critical state without prayers. He recently revealed that the regular intercession has prevented the nation from collapsing thus far.
Speaking during RCCG’s monthly Thanksgiving service in Lagos, the man of God tackled criticisms from Nigerians who continue to question the effectiveness of constant prayers and fasting in our country.
Reminding the congregation that God will never stop influencing the course of human affairs, Adeboye urged believers to never stop interceding.
According to him, Christians should never stop putting the state of the nation in their prayers, even when people mock them for refusing to quit despite the apparent lack of results.
The clergyman noted that if the people praying for Nigeria decide to stop for only one week, the repercussions will be very severe.
“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop.
There is a God who rules in the affairs of men. If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings,” he said.

He then shared a testimony of divine protection experienced by RCCG members, narrating how a flood in the U.S. submerged several buildings except the one that hosted an RCCG house fellowship.
He then prayed for God to keep having mercy on Tinubu, stressing that he needs complete peace of mind to rule effectively.
“House number eight, with the RCCG sign, was the only one spared. House after house was flooded, but house number eight, the only one with a sign that read, ‘House Fellowship of RCCG holds here’ remained untouched. That is not a coincidence that is divine covering.
Your safety is in God. His protection may not be visible, but it is always present. Whether young or old, in peace or in crisis, the Almighty covers His own.
Let us ask God to have mercy on our president and give him peace, so he may find joy in his tenure,” he added.
