Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has opened up about her past relationship with fellow actress Iyabo Ojo. She recently hailed Iyabo for showing an admirable level of dedication to becoming a successful movie star.

Speaking on a podcast, Bimbo revealed that she met Iyabo when she was just 19 years old, and the passion she displayed for acting was second to none at the time.

According to her, Ojo took very bold steps to pursue her dreams in Nollywood, including visiting her house to speak about how she is ready to give everything to achieve her dream to become a top actress in Nigeria.

“She came to my house. She was very young and I asked, ‘What do you want?’ She said she wanted to act. She was 19 when we met,” she said.

Akintola praised Iyabo’s courage and drive, qualities she believed aided the moviestar’s rise in the Nigerian film industry.

“What I like is that she went the extra mile to fulfill her acting dream,” Bimbo said.

She, however, disclosed that their good relationship took a dramatic turn after she personally secured a lead role for Iyabo in a film.

Bimbo noted that it was very disappointing how their bond went downhill after she fought hard to land Iyabo the lead role, only to later find out that she was pregnant.

“Iyabo offended me when I got her a lead role. I don’t beg for roles, but I did for her. She was pregnant,” she added.
