Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has urged her followers to accept that no one owes them anything. She recently shared a heartfelt message with her fans that preaches against relying on others and encourages emotional maturity.
Speaking via her social media page, Damilola said that she felt forced to share one of the major truths she has learned with age because she believes Nigerians can also learn from it.
The movie star revealed that one of the most liberating lessons she has learned in life is that the people you show up for won’t necessarily do the same in return.
According to her, it is good to accept that your hard efforts towards helping others will go unnoticed sometimes, and that sorry you keep waiting for might never come from the people who offended you.
“Sometimes the people you showed up for will not show up for you. Sometimes your hard efforts will go unnoticed. That apology you are waiting for may never come,” she said.

Confirming that she learned the lesson during a recent phone conversation with a friend, Dami emphasised that even though many people expect great things to happen to them just because they are good to others, it rarely works out that way.
The actress then encouraged her followers to stop getting upset when others don’t treat them right. stressing the need for them to observe, adjust, and move on with their lives.
“Somebody shows you love, care, attention… it’s not your entitlement. They choose to care. They don’t have to.
Your peace is your power. Don’t give it away just because someone couldn’t meet you where you are,” she added.
