A member of the Rivers State Elders and Leaders Council, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, has said that Siminalayi Fubara’s recent visit to Nyesom Wike was a sacrifice made in the interest of peace in Rivers State. He recently revealed that Fubara has consistently shown a desire for peace, contrary to Wike’s constant combative stance.
Speaking in reaction to the meeting, Chief Anabs shared that Fubara must be commended for taking the bold step, emphasising how peace often requires personal sacrifices.
According to him, the governor has always fought for peace because he is constantly thinking about his people, and it is Wike who has consistently triggered the full-blown war that happened recently.
“That discussion is not for public consumption, except the FCT Minister wants to make it public. At the end of the day, we’ll hear the result.
Of course, the governor wants peace all through. The governor is looking for peace — it is Wike who doesn’t want peace. And if somebody is looking for peace, you must make sacrifices. You can’t get any peace without sacrifice,” he said.

Anabs maintained that Fubara has always been a humble politician who focuses on not leading with pride, so it is not shocking to see him making the first move to end the political back and forth in Rivers State.
“The governor is a governor of everybody. It’s not about pride. With humility, he went there to discuss, and they discussed,” he added.
Wike recently confirmed that a meeting actually took place with Fubara during a live media chat with the press.
He disclosed that Governor Fubara visited him at his residence in Port Harcourt, accompanied by two governors from the All Progressives Congress and another unnamed individual.
