Popular Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has urged Nigerians to be more self-aware in a world increasingly shaped by the pressures of social media. She recently highlighted the unrealistic standards often portrayed online nowadays.
Speaking during an interview with Dose of Society, Tiwa shared that the false standards seen online often go a long way towards affecting people’s self-esteem and mental health.
The musician stated that she needs human beings to begin to show more love to their fellow humans, especially online, because flaunting make-believes to put pressure on ourselves doesn’t help the world we live in.
“My message to the world is that we need to show a bit more love. Especially when we look at social media, I just see things that are make-believe.
We all know it’s not real, but we’re still putting pressure on ourselves when all we need to do is love a little bit more,” she said.

The singer reminded her followers that social media only shows curated moments of people’s lives, hence the need for those feeling pressured to appreciate themselves more.
The mother then encouraged her fans to concentrate on living authentically and in the present, henceforth.
“Figure it out, get up and figure it out. I know you think everyone has the manual for life. The only thing you owe yourself is to wake up, be present and try.
Even if you fail or win, you’d figure it out. Nobody has your life; we may have examples and templates and people we look up to, but nobody has your exact dreams, so figure it out for yourself. If god wakes me up, I have an opportunity to figure it out,” she added.
