Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has said that God sent him to fight cultism in the state. He recently shared that fighting cultism in Edo has gone beyond using muscle and physical strength.
Speaking at a special Thanksgiving mass marking the second year in office of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku and to commemorate Father’s Day celebration, Okpebholo disclosed that the fight is a divine calling he is only able to handle by God’s grace.
The Governor stated that the same way it takes courage to be a father is the same way only a courageous person can be a leader worthy of emulation.
He urged fathers to never stop loving their children, stressing that it is a commandment that should always be obeyed because children are God’s gifts.
“I want to tell you people that God is here. That’s why, if it’s somebody with muscles, with the strength to fight cultism, I don’t think I would have really been the one. But God has sent me to do that.
Let me use this opportunity to thank God for a day like this called Father’s Day. It takes courage to be a father. It takes sympathy. I encourage fathers to continue to love their children because children are God’s gifts,” he said.

He concluded by pledging to form a synergy with the executive to take Edo State to the next level.
“Your Excellency, As a house, we want to work with you. We want to form synergy with you to take Edo to the next level. We are very ready to work with you to make sure our people have the best in Nigeria,” he added.
