Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba. He was subsequently transferred to the Ogun State Police headquarters in Abeokuta. This development follows his recent declaration as wanted by the Ogun State Police Command on allegations of conspiracy, serious assault, armed conduct, breach of public peace, and attempted murder involving the recruitment of armed thugs.
The Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Omotola Odutola, confirmed Portable’s arrival at the SCID, marking the commencement of his prosecution related to an alleged attack on Ogun State officials. Odutola assured the public that due process would be followed, and updates would be provided as necessary. She urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to upholding justice and maintaining public order.
Earlier, Portable had publicly prayed for divine intervention, asking God to transform his challenges into blessings and to let grace speak on his behalf. He also issued an apology to the Ogun State government, expressing remorse and attributing his earlier evasion to fear. In February, the government had sealed his uncompleted building and hotel due to illegal development without an approval permit, leading to the detention of some of his customers and workers. This incident prompted Portable to cancel a scheduled show in London, citing the need to protect his family and property. He expressed hope for future opportunities to perform internationally.

In a heartfelt appeal, Portable reached out to President Bola Tinubu, requesting intervention with Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun on his behalf. He highlighted his status as a citizen of Ogun State and expressed concern over the state’s displeasure with him for supporting another political figure, Yayi.
The situation remains under investigation, and the public is advised to await official updates from the Ogun State Police Command.
