In a dramatic turn of events, popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has once again faced trouble with Nigerian authorities after being detained at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos. Late Thursday night, Bobrisky was reportedly removed from an Amsterdam-bound KLM flight by immigration officers, bringing his attempted escape from Nigeria to an abrupt end.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident unfolded as Bobrisky was about to board the flight. Just before takeoff, immigration officials intervened, halting the aircraft to remove him from the plane in full view of other passengers.
The incident marks Bobrisky’s second recent encounter with immigration authorities. Previously, on October 22, he was apprehended by immigration officials at the Sème border, allegedly attempting to leave Nigeria for Benin Republic. Following that arrest, Bobrisky was detained, brought to court, and later granted bail. However, it appears he was making another attempt to flee the country when he was intercepted once again.
In a post shared on Instagram, Bobrisky disclosed details of his latest arrest, alleging he had sustained injuries during an altercation with immigration officers. “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.
The arrest comes shortly after Bobrisky took a jab at VDM following their own police detention on charges of impersonation. In a message posted earlier on Thursday, just as images of him preparing to board the London-bound flight surfaced online, Bobrisky wrote, “He who laughs last, laughs best.”
