A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Sen. Ita Enang, has said that Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno’s defection to the party will trigger more positive developments in the state. He recently shared that the governor’s decision to defect has aligned Akwa Ibom with the centre.
Speaking in Uyo, the state capital, Sen. Ita urged Akwa Ibom people to celebrate the defection after the gains recorded in the state between 1999 and 2015 when the state had connections with the centre.
According to him, the connection is what the governor’s movement to APC has rekindled, and Akwa Ibom residents can now expect more attention from the Federal Government.
Enang disclosed that Akwa Ibom cannot be in a minority party and expect major developmental projects, therefore, Governor Umo Eno’s defection is a thoughtful decision.

“Akwa Ibom people will gain so much from the centre following the governor’s latest political alliance.
That connection is what the governor’s movement to the APC has rekindled. Akwa Ibom people should expect more attention from the Federal Government.
All our struggles since 2015 have been to achieve this connection, we cannot be in a minority party and expect major developmental projects.
Today, the governor is in the same party with the president, it is a thing of joy to us, he has set the stage for growth and progress.
APC is more solid and resolved to ensure victory in 2027.” he said.
Sen. Ita concluded by saying that the governor and every other politician joining the APC with him should rest assured that all the agreements reached with the party would be respected.
