Popular Nollywood actor Kamo State has said that he actually planned to become a lawyer. He recently shared that financial challenges forced him to consider a different career path.
Speaking during an interview with Tobi Makinde, the skitmaker revealed that he embraced performing arts after dumping his dreams to become a lawyer, a decision that eventually helped him channel his creativity into content creation.
Kamo stated that he started creating content in 2012, before having his major breakout around 2019, and it has been non-stop creative content for his social media followers ever since.
According to him, after getting admission around the same time as his sister, funding their education became a very tough ask for his mother, hence his decision to do something else to ease her financial burden.
The funny creative stated that his single mum eventually gave her blessings for him to choose a different path, despite worrying about how he would sponsor it.
“I really love your content for one year. Me, I’ve been doing content since 2012, yes. Man, 2012, I was seven in 2012. I’ve been creating content since 2012, but I can say my major break out happened in 2019. You guys 2020 during lockdown. Yeah, absolutely. So, basically, I wanted to be a lawyer. Yes. Yes.
My siblings, generally, is so high for my mom. I got into, I got admission at the same time as my sister. It was a very difficult thing for my mom. The single mother, like, send us to school and all of that. So, I had to wait for my sister to go first. Wow, wow. And I rewrote, I wrote Jambe Day, second year. They gave me a lot. My mom called me and said, Kama, then it was like that. Thank you. Are you sure you want to do this? Who’s going to sponsor you? How do you want to do it? Wow. But I mean, I had to, like, rethink that,” he said.

The Nollywood actor noted that he studied performing arts in school before perfecting his craft on stage, stressing that he put in the required work to be where he is today.
“Okay, what if I pass the money, I’m not going to do it, okay?Do you get it? So, I had to, like… Actually, I studied performing arts. Okay. Do you get it? What school? Wait, you’re about to know what I mean. Ah, oh, shit. Yes, now,” he added.
