The Senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Salisu, has reiterated the need for politicians to prioritise delivery on their campaign promises for the betterment of the country. He recently revealed that politicians should always recognise God’s presence whenever they are making a commitment to the people.
Speaking while commissioning a 12KW 48v/200A solar power electricity installation donated to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council at Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, Salisu said that politicians who fail to recognise the presence of the supreme being whenever they make promises to the people will give account someday.
According to him, while he personally runs away from making promises he doesn’t intend to fulfil, some other political players in the country never hesitate to lie to the people.
Salisu claimed that he never sees a commitment as a promise involving two people, because our creator is always present to note down everything we say for future reference.
“I am always careful of making commitments, I am always hesitant, and once I make it I follow it through.
I am hesitant in making a commitment because I know that a commitment between two people involves a third being, a commitment with three people involves a fourth being and that being is the Almighty God whom we are all answerable to either here on earth or hereafter,” he said.

Shuaib is also of the opinion that journalists play a crucial role in fostering good governance and promoting democracy across Nigeria.
He noted that Nigerian journalists deserve to be provided an enabling environment to thrive and be productive, hence the reason to donate solar power electricity and 20 sets of laptops to the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ogun State.
He then pleaded with journalists to keep upholding the ethics of the job while they strengthen Nigeria’s growing democracy with their reports.
Reacting, the Chairman of NUJ, Ogun State Council, Wale Olarenwaju, praised Senator Salisu for his kind gesture, describing it as very thoughtful.
He disclosed that the gesture will not just help to resolve the lingering electricity problems in the secretariat, it’ll also help to reduce climate change issues since solar power electricity is a variant of clean energy.
