Nollywood heavyweights, Mo Abudu and Funke Akindele, have made the Hollywood Reporter’s esteemed list of “Most Influential Women in International Film.” The highly respected magazine recently recognised 46 extraordinary women from across the globe for their commendable impact on the global film industry.
Announcing the celebrities who earned a spot on the prestigious list, The Hollywood Reporter noted the progress recorded in several regions all over the world, praising the creative brains championing the impressive growth.
The magazine reiterated how important it is to celebrate the global leaders who have found a way to make a memorable impact despite the lingering challenges in the movie sector.
THR profiled Mo Abudu as a visionary who produced local box office hits like “The Wedding Party” and “Òlòtūré,” emphasising how her collaborations with streaming platforms like Netflix and Sony keep yielding good results in her country and on the continent.
It also praised the British-Nigerian founder of EbonyLife Media for the upcoming EbonyLife Place London, a cultural hub set to open before the end of the year.

Reacting to being recognised by the magazine, Mo simply urged young women to remain dedicated and original in their quest to find their own voice. “Stay focused, be authentic and find your own voice,” the publication quoted her as saying. Her recognition underlines the major role Abudu keeps playing to amplify the African story while promoting international collaborations.

The Hollywood Reporter did not forget to put the spotlight on Funke Akindele for constantly displaying her many talents as an actress, writer, director and producer. According to THR, Funke’s “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” the 3rd instalment in her popular comedy franchise, is clear proof of her incredible creative prowess.
Praising the household name for her recent record-breaking Nollywood productions, the magazine hailed Funke for consistently championing authentic Nigerian stories over the years. Reacting, the CEO of the Funke Akindele Network (FAAN) revealed that she’ll always advocate for control of the African narrative because it is the right thing to do.
Overwhelmed by the honourable mention, Akindele shared her heartfelt appreciation on her Instagram page, reiterating her commitment to keep churning out projects that are worthy of global recognition. “It’s about owning and empowering our narrative,” she wrote.
