Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged Nigerian soldiers to pay close attention to intelligence gathering in order to eradicate insecurity in Nigeria. He recently revealed that if intelligence is deployed properly, Nigerian security agencies would find it easier to erase criminality.
Speaking while receiving in audience a delegation of Course 47 of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College of Nigeria, led by the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies of the command, Rear Admiral Ufieko Uko, Otti said foreign students coming to train in Nigeria is enough proof that the country is blessed with a disciplined military.
He hailed the military men in Abia who keep working diligently with his government to put a stop to all kinds of crimes and criminal activities in the state.
According to him, focusing on intelligence goes a long way towards de-escalating crimes even before they happen, and that is precisely what Nigeria needs right now from its military.
“A lot of times, if you pay attention to intelligence, you will be able to nip in the bud majority of the cases before they happen. So, pay attention to intelligence. Itβs good and that is what this course is about too.
We have also held a strong view that security starts from intelligence. Thorough and well put together intelligence would always predict and sometimes put the forces in a state of readiness,” he said.

He then congratulated the students and appreciated the leadership of the college for deeming Abia State worthy of their study tour.
The Governor also assured everyone of his readiness to further collaborate with security agencies to sustain Peace all over the state.
“So, the students are here in Abia State to look at Abia and the existing structures which can be galvanized towards assisting the government and also the security agencies with veritable intelligence.
If there are practices here that we can adopt, we will adopt them as best practices and they will take it back to wherever they serve, all with a view to ensuring that national security is enhanced in Nigeria,” the Deputy Commandant and Director of Studies of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College of Nigeria, Rear Admiral Uko, added.
