The legal team of Nigerian senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has blasted the worrying pattern of selective justice in the country. This is coming after the recent criminal charges filed against their client by the Federal Government, despite a dozen pending petitions the senator had filed between March and May 2025.
Reacting via a press statement issued today in Abuja and signed by her counsel, Uju Nwoduwu, the team shared that 12 petitions submitted by Akpoti-Uduaghan tackling serious issues like cyberstalking, threats to life, defamation, and an alleged assassination plot have been completely ignored.
The team said that every single petition sent by their client has yet to be acted upon by the Nigerian Police Force or relevant security agencies.
According to her legal team, while Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s complaints have still not been investigated, counter-allegations that have resulted in criminal charges against Natasha, from Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Governor Yahaya Bello, have been quickly attended to.

“The public expects law enforcement and prosecutorial bodies to uphold fairness, the rule of law, and impartial justice in all matters involving her.
This selective response raises deep concerns about biased enforcement of justice,” her lawyers said.
Her lawyers insisted that the petitions implicate high-profile figures and detail incidents like the abduction and attempted assassination of a protocol officer.
They concluded by saying that even though their client is out of Nigeria at the moment, Natasha will make herself available for the arraignment as soon as a date is confirmed.
“Despite being out of the country on personal engagements, the senator has acknowledged official communication regarding the charges and has assured that she will present herself for arraignment once a date is confirmed.
She remains fully committed to due process,” her team added.
