Veteran Nollywood actress, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has publicly hailed her colleague, Iyabo Ojo, for being mature enough to include her ex-husband in their daughter, Priscilla Ojo’s wedding ceremony. This is coming amid growing criticism directed at popular gospel singer, Tope Alabi, for doing otherwise.
Speaking during an interview with Oyin Momo TV, Ronke praised Iyabo for being a true mother whose parenting choices have always reflected utmost love and responsibility.
The actress revealed that Iyabo has been dedicated to taking care of Priscilla and her brother since their birth, and her respect for her increased after she invited Priscilla’s father to her wedding despite their past issues.
“I give kudos to Iyabo Ojo. When Priscilla and her brother were young, she was always going everywhere with them. She is a devoted mother. I now respect her more when I saw Priscilla’s dad at the wedding. I also learnt a lesson from her,” she said.
On Tope Alabi and the criticism she keeps getting, Ronke urged Nigerians to be careful with their reactions because it could’ve been the singer’s daughter who refused to invite her father to her wedding.
“Don’t let us blame Tope Alabi for not allowing the father of her daughter to be present at her wedding. The girl is 27 years old, maybe she was the one that didn’t want to see her dad. She is an adult. If she really wanted her dad, she would have insisted to her mum,” she added.
While Ronke is against excluding estranged fathers completely when their kids are taking a major step as adults, she also believes there are reasons for every decision a mother makes.
