The Lagos State Police Command has refuted allegations made by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour that the Nigerian Police is collaborating with All Progressives Congress (APC) thugs to establish a one-party state. Recall that Rhodes-Vivour had made the claims during a live interview on ARISE Television’s Morning Show on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
Reacting via a press statement, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bababeyi Oluseyi, described Gbadebo’s allegation as unfounded and mischievous.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police directed the deployment of conventional officers, Tactical Squads, and the Police Mobile Force to Alimosho LGA and other parts of the state strictly to ensure law and order.
Disclosing that the APC in Alimosho Federal Constituency duly notified the police about its sensitization exercise on Continuous Voter Registration, which held peacefully at Lion Field, Iyana-Ipaja, Saturday, September 6, DSP Bababeyi stated that he personally deployed officers to guarantee security.

He maintained that the police remain neutral and non-partisan in political operations across Nigeria.
The police officer further revealed that the forceful staging of a political rally at the Christ Gospel Mission International Campground, during a prayer program, led to the trouble that broke out, and he had to personally lead his officers to restore law and order.
Describing Rhodes-Vivour’s intrusion as capable of endangering lives, he vowed that the Nigerian Police Force would keep resisting any attempt to drag it into partisan politics.
“The Lagos State Police Command will continue to remain neutral, apolitical, and firm in the enforcement of law and order while resisting any attempt to drag the Force into partisan politics,” it read.
