Wife of late Junior Pope, Jennifer, has penned a touching tribute to her husband on what would have been his 45th birthday, May 7, 2025. She recently revealed that she feels sad to be celebrating her late husband’s birthday with tears, not cakes and candles.
In an emotional post shared on her Instagram page, Jennifer remembered Junior Pope telling her his birth date during one of their earliest romantic exchanges around July 2010, and how their conversation made him conclude that his woman is smart.
According to her, Pope had told her that he was born on the last day of the first week of May, and because she immediately figured out that he was born on the 7th of May, he applauded her quick thinking.
Jennifer revealed that while her husband is no longer around to mark his special day with his family, she will keep celebrating his posthumous birthdays with a heart that will forever beat for him.

She then urged the late actor to keep watching over her and the children he left behind, pledging that they’ll forever flaunt their love for him with everything they do.
“You asked my birth date…. I asked for yours and you said the last day in the first week of May. And I said 7th??? You said, ‘Smart,’ with a clap.
It’s May 7th, 2025, and I’m not celebrating you with my different birthday surprises (I doubt I missed any), not with candles and cakes, but with tears and memories and a heart that still beats in rhythm with yours.

Junior Pope Odonwodo tragically tragically died in April 2024 after drowning in the River Niger while shooting a Nollywood movie. Hours before the sad incident, the movie star had shared a clip from the ill-fated boat ride, asking the driver to avoid speeding on water because he has a family waiting for him back at home.
His death stunned his colleagues and fans across the country, and conversations about the on-set safety of actors have been ongoing since then.
