A 47-year-old landlord, Adedayo Adefisan, has been accused of repeatedly defiling a 13-year-old girl who lives with her widowed mother in his compound Oke Isagun street, Command Road in the Agbado Oke-Ode area of Lagos.
The case reported to the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Agbado Oke-Ode Command, which later transferred the matter to the Nigeria Police Force at the Ipaja Police Division, Lagos State Command, where the department of Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) for further investigation.
According to the victim’s mother, a widow, the alleged abuse began in January 2026 without her knowledge. She explained that she only became aware of the situation on March 12, 2026, after a neighbour advised her to closely observe her daughter’s recent behaviour.
The mother said the neighbour had noticed that the landlord frequently interacted with the teenager, often giving her gifts and allowing her to handle his phone. The development reportedly raised suspicion, particularly as the mother stated that she had not been on good terms with the landlord.
Following the advice, the woman questioned her daughter, identified as Esther, about her relationship with the landlord and the gifts she had reportedly been receiving from him. During the conversation, the girl allegedly disclosed that the landlord had been sexually assaulting her for some time.
When contacted by the Titansloaded media team, the victim recounted how the alleged incidents occurred. She claimed the first incident happened late at night while she was about to take a bath in the backyard of the compound. According to her, the landlord suddenly approached her, grabbed her, covered her mouth and dragged her to a church structure located behind the compound where he allegedly forced himself on her.
The teenager said the landlord warned her not to tell anyone about the incident, leaving her too frightened to inform her mother.
She further alleged that another incident occurred after the landlord asked her to purchase a recharge card for him. After she returned with the card, she said he grabbed her inside the house and again forced himself on her.
The victim also alleged that a third incident occurred recently while she and her younger brother were waiting for their mother to return from work. She said the landlord called her and asked her to tell her brother to go to bed before dragging her to the church building behind the compound where he again allegedly assaulted her.
Reacting to the development, the victim’s mother expressed shock and disappointment that the alleged incidents had been happening without her knowledge. She said her daughter later explained that she had remained silent because the landlord repeatedly threatened her not to disclose the incidents to anyone.
According to the victim, the suspect warned her that he would harm her if she revealed the matter.
The case is currently under investigation at the Meiran Police Division of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State.
