Veteran Nollywood actor, Ayebo Yemi Solomon, a.k.a Yemi My Lover, has slammed popular rapper, Olamide, for not reaching out to him despite being inspired by his past work. Recall that Olamide’s got the inspiration for his hit track “Yemi Lover” from Yemi’s classic Nollywood movie, “Yemi My Lover.”
Speaking during a new interview, the movie star revealed that even though he appreciated the lyricist’s nod to his creative work, he was not happy with Olamide for failing to contact him directly.
According to him, he was very excited when the singer released the song, and while he waited for his phone call or a feature when the music video dropped, neither happened.
“Olamide didn’t call me when he released the song. I was happy, but not happy. When the video dropped, I was expecting a call, at least a feature. I tried to see him, but it didn’t work,” he said.

Yemi then blamed the piracy of his content for his financial issues in recent years, stating that those constantly pirating his work are the reason for the decline of his acting career.
He disclosed that despite overseeing the distribution of his “Yemi My Lover” movie himself, piracy still took a massive chunk of his profit, and it inevitably affected his finances.
He concluded by saying that he has produced more than 17 movies since he joined Nollywood many years ago, and almost all of them were pirated.
“I didn’t make money from Yemi My Lover. Pirates waged war against me. They were printing the movie jackets anyhow. I invested N50,000 to N60,000, but I didn’t earn much back.
90 per cent of the money went to pirates. They are a curse to me. I ran into debt and even sold my land in Ajah to survive,” he added.
