Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain star Achraf Hakimi has been crowned the 2025 CAF African Men’s Player of the Year, beating past winners Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah to the top prize.
Titansloaded reports that Hakimi becomes the first Moroccan to win the award since Mustapha Hadji in 1998 and the first defender to claim the honour since Bwanga Tshimen in 1973. The right-back enjoyed a remarkable year, playing a key role in PSG’s treble-winning campaign, which included lifting the Ligue 1 title, French Cup, and the club’s historic first UEFA Champions League trophy.
Hakimi opened the scoring in PSG’s 5–0 Champions League final victory against his former club, Inter Milan, and was influential in Morocco’s successful qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. However, his participation in the upcoming AFCON remains uncertain due to injury concerns.
In the women’s category, Ghizlane Chebbak of Morocco clinched the CAF Women’s Player of the Year, finishing ahead of Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade.
Yassine Bounou, another Moroccan standout, secured the CAF Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, while Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie won the women’s version for the third consecutive year after helping the Super Falcons win the WAFCON title.
Cape Verde coach Bubista earned the CAF Men’s Coach of the Year award after guiding his country to their first-ever FIFA World Cup qualification.
DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele emerged as the CAF Men’s Interclub Player of the Year, while Morocco’s Othmane Maamma and Doha El Madani won the men’s and women’s young player awards respectively.
Morocco’s U-20 team was named Men’s National Team of the Year, while Nigeria’s Super Falcons claimed the women’s category. Egyptian side Pyramids won CAF Men’s Club of the Year.
Tanzania’s Clement Mzize won Goal of the Year for his long-range strike against TP Mazembe — the only award decided by fan votes.
