Popular singer Simi has urged Nigerians to stop referring to her daughter as Duduke. She recently shared that Duduke is not her daughter’s name, and it doesn’t even mean anything.
Speaking during an interview with media personality VJ Adams, Simi disclosed that she does not like the fact that a lot of her fans have concluded that her daughter should be called that.
According to her, Duduke is nothing but a sound of a beat, and when she said her heart was beating like that in her popular motherhood song, she simply meant it was beating like a drum.
“Some people call my daughter Duduke, which I don’t like. That’s not her name. It doesn’t mean anything. Assuming it even means something good like blessing… but Duduke doesn’t mean anything. It’s just a beat — that’s what I meant. My heartbeat like a drum,” she said.

She further noted that even though she understands that it comes from a good place, it’s still very uncomfortable to deal with as a parent.
She concluded by saying that while she tries to avoid reacting when people call her baby by a different name, it’s not a nice feeling.
“I try not to react too much to that, but stop calling my child Duduke,” she added.
