The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, has vowed to welcome former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, if he defects to the party. He recently revealed that he would have no problems welcoming Kwankwaso with open arms because he clearly needs a home at this point.
Speaking while receiving the Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, at the APC national headquarters in Abuja, Ganduje revealed that Kwankwaso is presently living like a fish out of water, therefore APC will not fail to help a friend who is in need.
According to him, if the former governor is humble enough to want a return to what used to be his home, the party would have no issues welcoming him back, because it is morally right to accommodate those who are stranded, rather than abandon them.
“The APC is deepening and widening democracy in the country. Kwankwaso is a fish out of water, trying to find its way back into the waters.
We cannot say we can’t accommodate him, because a friend in need is a friend indeed. We don’t want to leave him completely abandoned. We can still have him in, if he wants to join us.
When you see your son running to where he would get shelter and you are a big brother in a big home, I think it is morally right to accommodate him. So, we cannot say we cannot accommodate him,” he said.

Ex–Kano House of Assembly speaker, Yusuf Ata, confirmed that he paid Ganduje a visit to pay his respect while also showing support for President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on a possible Kwanwako defection, Ata said that while he would not want Rabiu back in APC, he’d have no choice but to welcome him if Ganduje doesn’t oppose the defection.
His words, “We are strongly behind Tinubu, and we are working around the clock to ensure we deliver Kano State in 2027.”
For me, I will not want the former Kano state governor to be welcomed into the APC fold. But I have no choice if our national chairman decides to have him on board.”
