Popular singer, Ric Hassani, has said that he always knew his music career would be a success. Ric recently shared that despite the challenges he kept facing during his early stages of his career, he was confident that everything would add up eventually.

Speaking during an interview with FAITH AJAYI, Hassani revealed that giving everything to his craft was all the confidence he needed to know that his songs would gain traction at the right time.

According to him, while his past albums perfectly reflected who he is as a human being, his new project would combine who he is with the present trends and sounds dominating the Nigerian music industry.

Ric stated that he collaborated with Portable on the project to bridge two different worlds, and he has a lot of respect for the singer’s raw energy and artistry.

“I realised I was doing the best I knew how to do. I was giving my all in everything I was doing, so I knew it would eventually add up. Doing your best is the only assurance and confidence you have in situations that seem to be defined by time.

My previous body of work is exactly as I am. They reflect who I am. But with this album, I wanted to create something dynamic. I wanted to merge who I am with the current trends and sounds dominating the industry today.

I wanted to be intentional about showcasing what Afro RnB sounds like. This album is a way of curating a genre that incorporates the afrobeat rhythm while still being emotionally and melodically rich.

Portable is an incredibly talented artiste. I really wanted to bridge two different worlds. For me to be that guy, I needed to show I could step into any soundscape and still create something beautiful. I admire Portable’s raw energy and artistry. I think he’s truly gifted,” he said.

On infusing some gospel elements into the album, the singer noted that it was very easy for him to do that because he is very spiritual.

Ric concluded by saying that the kinds of songs he makes are recorded to stand the test of time.

“I am deeply spiritual. My faith is the most important thing to me. The story of Lagos Lover Boy concludes with finding God—the ultimate love—and surrendering back to the Creator.

I think people are beginning to understand the timelessness of the sound. The music I make is built to last. You can listen to it years from now and it will still feel fresh. That’s one of the beautiful qualities of RnB,” he added.
