Popular Afrobeats singer Simi has said that she is very proud to be a Nigerian. The mother of one recently revealed that it is impossible for non-Nigerians to replicate the culture.
Speaking during an appearance on the “90s Baby Show,” Simi shared that her favourite thing about the country is the Nigerian spirit.
According to her, the spirit cannot be copied by anyone else because no one can be a Nigerian like a Nigerian.
“My favourite thing about Nigeria is just the spirit of Nigerians. You can’t replicate it. Nobody else can be a Nigerian other than a Nigerian,” she said.

Blasting Hollywood’s portrayals of African accents for constantly imitating East or South African dialects, Simi noted that the U.S. movie industry even finds it hard to fake a Nigerian accent.
Simisola concluded by saying that she wishes Nigeria were a better nation because it will always be home.
“Even when they are faking African accents in Hollywood movies, they never actually fake a Nigerian accent.
They always fake East Africa and South African accents. Being a Nigerian doesn’t just come as naturally, it just feels like home.
That is why I wish the country was better. Because I feel like no one would want to leave,” she added.
