It was a moment of pride and celebration as Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School (BIIA/SPS) marked its 50th Anniversary, commemorating five decades of academic excellence, community impact, and transformational education.
Founded in 1975 by the late Mrs. Bosede Idehen, a visionary educationist whose passion for nurturing young minds shaped the lives of many in Lagos and beyond, the institution has continued to uphold her legacy under the leadership of her daughter, Mrs. Maureen Idehen Ovabor (RPh) — a pharmacist based in the United States. Her commitment to sustaining and expanding her mother’s vision has brought new growth and innovation to the school.
The seven-day Golden Jubilee Celebration was filled with exciting and memorable activities, including community service projects, school awareness programs, inter-school games, debate competitions, and alumni reunions. These events reflected the school’s enduring values of learning, service, and excellence.

Speaking during the grand finale, Mrs. Maureen Idehen Ovabor reaffirmed her commitment to the founder’s vision, saying:
“My mother’s legacy is what we are here to celebrate. I am ready to give my best to ensure this school continues to grow and serve the people of Alimosho and its environs even better.”
The grand finale was graced by dignitaries, community leaders, and education stakeholders, who commended the school for its long-standing contribution to education and community development.

The 50th Anniversary celebration not only marked a landmark of success but also ushered in a new chapter of growth and transformation for Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School — a true citadel of learning committed to shaping future leaders.
In its commitment to inclusive education, Springfield Private School and Bosede Idehen International Academy has introduced a remarkable new initiative — the Special Education Needs (SEN) Department. This development reflects the school’s philosophy that no child should be left behind.
“Special Care for Special Minds! Every child can learn, just not in the same way,” the school’s statement reads. “At SPS & BIIA, we believe that every child is gifted — they only open their gifts at different times and in different ways. Our inclusive learning environment is built on love, patience, and understanding. We provide personalised support, specialised instruction, and a nurturing space where children with special needs can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.”
The SEN Department is fully equipped with modern learning tools and facilities tailored to meet the unique needs of children with developmental or learning challenges. The school is now enrolling special needs learners, reaffirming its mission to ensure that every child, regardless of ability, is given the opportunity to excel — academically and beyond.
Over the years, Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School has produced exceptional graduates who now serve as leaders, professionals, and innovators across various sectors. Its blend of Nigerian and American curricula provides students with a balanced education that prepares them for global opportunities.
Bosede Idehen International Academy/Springfield Private School stands tall as a beacon of hope, a center of knowledge, and a true legacy of growth — a school where every child matters, and every learner thrives.
